Dr. Miriam F. Williams retired as a tenured full professor from Texas State University after 30 years of service to the State of Texas—nearly a decade at Texas Health and Human Services agencies implementing, developing, and editing health and safety regulations, followed by 22 years in the Department of English’s MA in Technical Communication Program at Texas State University.
Her award-winning research earned national recognition, while her teaching helped produce generations of technical writers, UX designers, editors, content strategists, and project managers. Earlier in her career, she managed teams responsible for editing regulations before publication in the Texas Register and served as project manager for a team rewriting complex regulations into plain language.
