About Miriam | MiriamUXAudits LLC

Fifth-generation Texan. Houston-raised, Austin-based. I hold a B.S. in Economics and an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Houston, an M.A. in Technical Communication from Texas State University, and a Ph.D. in Technical Communication & Rhetoric from Texas Tech University. Before two decades as a professor and researcher, I spent nearly a decade at Texas Health and Human Services agencies—intepreting public policies, investigating health and safety compliance, managing policy development, and making complex policy clear to people who aren't policy experts.

I've since spent 20+ years at Texas State University teaching technical communication, researching plain language and regulatory writing, and editing high-stakes institutional documents. I'm a Fellow of the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing and recipient of both the Society for Technical Communication’s Ken Rainey Award for Distinguished Research and the Association for Computing Machinery’s SIGDOC Rigo Award.

See what I offer on Services, what I've done on Projects and Testimonials, my research on Publications, and recognition for my work on Awards.
