I am a Full Professor in Texas State University’s Department of English and have taught in the M.A. in Technical Communication Program for over 20 years. Prior to my work as a professor, I spent nearly a decade in Texas government agencies.

My research focuses on the intersection of technical communication, policy development and editing, ethics, and social justice. I am passionate about making complex information accessible through plain language and ensuring that communication is ethical, inclusive, and respects human dignity.

As a fifth generation Texan, born and raised in Houston, and based in Austin, I am deeply committed to serving my community and preparing the next generation of technical communicators to work ethically and effectively in both public and private sectors.
